Not sure if there'll be any interest in this, but I was bored. I skipped the ones that weren't in English, and the instrumentals (obviously).

Step 1. Put your playlist on random.
Step 2. Post the first line from the first 25 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing.
Step 3. Strike out the songs when someone guesses correctly. NO GOOGLING.

1. I need love, love, to ease my mind / I need to find, find, someone to call mine.
2. I sing it one last time for you / then I really have to go.
3. Lord, make me an instrument of your peace / where there is hatred let me sow love.
4. Why are there so many songs about rainbows?
5. Wake up kids, we've got the dreamer's disease.
6. I tremble. They're gonna eat me alive.
7. I hurt myself today / to see if I still feel.
8. Hello darkness my old friend / I've come to talk with you again.
9. Words like violence / break the silence.
10. Pressure, pushing down on me, pressing down on you.
11. Alabama, Arkansas, I do love my ma and pa, / not the way that I do love you.
12. Oh, the year was 1778, how I wish I was in Sherbrooke now.
13. I saw the light on the night that I passed by her window.
14. Oh, better far to live and die under the brave black flag I fly / than play a sanctimonious part, with a pirate head and a pirate heart.
15. Do I attract you, do I repulse you with my queasy smile?
16. Hand me down my walking cane, hand me down my hat.
17. Your day breaks, you mind aches, you find that all her words of kindness linger on when she no longer needs you.
18. I did my best to notice, when the call came down the line.

19. Far away, this ship is taking me far away / far away from the memories, of the people who care if I live or die.
20. Stars shining bright above you / night breezes seem to whisper I love you.
21. When I'm with you, my heart sings / all the joy and everything washes over and cleans me 'til I'm shining.
22. Jesus hangs behind a glass above venetian doors.
23. Fe-fe-fi-fi-fo-fo-fum, looking mighty nice, here she comes.
24. I am just a poor boy though my story's seldom told / I have squandered my existence for a pocket full of mumbles, such are promises.

25. A falling star fell from your heart and landed in my eyes.

3. Prayer of St Francis

5. Boo Radleys, Wake Up Boo

7. Johnny Cash, Hurt

10. David Bowie, Under Pressure (Unless it's the Jedward/Vanilla Ice cover version :P)

13. Tom Jones, Delilah (Why, why, WHY, Delilah?)

15. Mika, Grace Kelly

17. Is it The Script, Breakeven?

20. Has to be Coldplay, Yellow

Hmmm... There's a few here that escape me but I'm certain I hear ten times daily on the muzak system at work. I kije your mixed tastes in music :)

Why, why, why Delilah?
DUN-DUN-DUN-DA-DA-DA-DUN! (That song is the most fun to belt out in the shower ever).

Yes to most! :) And it was definitely the David Bowie version of Under Pressure /snobbery.

5 is 'You Get What You Give' by the New Radicals (the one that goes 'Don't give up, you've got the music in you'), 17 is the Beatles "For No One", and 20 "Dream a Little Dream of Me". :)

Hahaha, thanks! I had to skip a bunch because I apparently have waaay more stuff not in English than I thought I did. And a load of Classical/soundtrack things.

Kathering Jenkins did the best cheeky cover of Delilah when we saw her Christmas show in December. It was so much fun, the whole 02 was belting it out :)

Ah! I remember "you get what you give", it and "wake up boo" sound interchangeable in my brain.

It's fun, but I have nearly all audiobooks/classical/soundtracks to be much good.

Grr. It keeps eating my comment.

Delilah is the best song to cover. It's so horrible, but so damn enjoyable. They did a great rendition of it during one of the silly song rounds in I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue once.

That happens to me all the time! My brain muddles songs up like there's no tomorrow.

I think I would like your itunes library a lot.

It is the most fun song ever - especially with 10,000 Dubs belting it out :D

You probably would, too - and I bet I'd like yours.

I'll rec you my personal favourite, who has tracks in most of my 25 Most Played if you like (PSY's Gangnam Style breaks up the monotony of all being the same guy :P)

If you're into beautiful sountrack music go no further than Jesper Kyd, he of the Assassin's Creed (first four AC1, 2 Bro'Hood and Revelations) games soundtracks. Epic and hauntingly beautiful. They are on a constant rota for me, no matter what my mood is. I think it's the Scandinavian thing, no matter how bleak it gets there's some hope and beauty in it, too.

Hahaha! I'll bet. :P Honestly, though, 10,000 Dubliners singing anything would pretty much make my day.

I'll check it out! I love soundtrack music. And I'll swap you: Brian Tyler's soundtrack to Children of Dune is some of the most hauntingly beautiful music I've ever heard. This one is probably the best-known bit of the soundtrack, but the whole thing is really beautiful.
